How you can say no to HIPs (Home Information Packs)

As from Sept 10th 2007 selling a 3 or 4 bedroom property on the open market has just got more expensive.

A new EU directive states that anybody marketing their property must have a Home information pack (HIP). This report is estimated to cost between £400 and £1000 and you as the seller must pay for it in advance of advertising the property for sale!

The report requires an energy survey and property searches to be completed on your property prior to advertising and will take several weeks to prepare, delaying the sale of the property.

Unfortunately the ramifications from Hips will mean the average time taken to sell your house will rise to nearly 7 months, that's 7 mortgage payments plus legal fees and estate agents fees.
